FS&S Model A Controller

Hello,
I have recently purchased a Federal Sign & Signal Model A (my first siren), without any sort of controllers or plugs. I was wondering if I need to use an AR or AF timer, or if it is as simple as just soldering the wire to an outlet plug. Any help with this information would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advanced.

The Model A can be run off a regular 120V wall socket. Properly splicing a cord with a male end plug is your best bet. An AF/AR timer is definitely a great bonus, but isn’t required at all for the Model A to work. It’s a fractional HP motor, so technically a motor starter is not needed. I added a chassis ground to my Model A for extra safety, but it’s not required. I recommend using an anti-oxidant inside your wire nuts if splicing aluminum wiring to copper, as well as a proper 1/2” NM (romex) connector at the bottom of the Model A where the wires come out.

Ok, thank you. I will be doing the wall socket option as I don't feel like buying an AR/AF timer right now. Thanks again!
