Mountain Home, AR has a system of Whelen Vortexs and WPS 2804s. I would rather call it an infestation than a system because Whelen is not my favorite brand. The do airhorn for a daily test at noon. Can anyone give me any more information about their system. Thanks

Yikes. They stopped testing their Vortex Finback! Disappointing because its the only within 50 miles of me.

Mountain home's system is from 1998 and was installed alongside the rest of the Baxter County system. To my understanding Mountain Home tests with Baxter County but its maintained by city. Most of the rural vortexes in the County are really struggling cause they haven't been maintained in years.

Money is tight I'm sure but they'll give out the same excuses about maintenance. No money. Code Red or some other callback system is "better". Or they'll give a super inflated figure about sirens costing $100,000 a piece. Sirens are WW2 tech (yet somehow radio signals aren't) and outdated. I may be wrong. I hope I am. But many communities fall victim to what I call the Spann mentality of "sirens bad, only phones and outdated weather radio tech can save us".

Thats some neat information! That Vortex Finback I mentioned hasnt gone off in a week and they test daily. Also, i didnt know their system was that old! 1998 was 2 years after the vortex released. I live by a vortex that they claim is tested every Wednesday but its facing in the same direction and i dont hear it. Thanks!

Unfortunately one of Mountain Home’s Whelen Vortex Finbacks is not working. I used to be able to hear it a school but I haven't lately and it is facing the same direction it has been for a few weeks now.
