The Ferry building Heath siren

Does anyone know what happened to the Heath siren that was on top of the Ferry building? It was supposed to go to a museum, but people keep saying it's not in there. It was replaced by a Thunderbolt 1000, which was then replaced by an ATI HHPS-16. If you look on google maps, you can see where it used to sit. Also, are there any other pictures of the full siren that aren't zoomed out?

It was destroyed. It fell into disuse in 1972 after suffering a rotor failure, and was replaced by the Thunderbolt and later the ATI. Some morons doing renovations on the building in 2001 didn't know what it was, and smashed it with sledgehammers and chucked the remains into a dumpster. Heath's son noticed this and did manage to recover the remains, but the siren is completely destroyed. All that remains is the intake horns, pieces of one rotor/stator and the motor. The siren's remains apparently currently reside at the National Maritime Museum, according to an article from 2002. I can't find any pics though.

This and the zoomed out photo are the only 2 that I can find. If there are any other pictures, please try to get them onto the forum (Also they say it has an instant startup feature, but how fast would it have actually spun up?)!

Okay this is a big bump so sorry about that but isn’t the thunderbolt 1000 still up there? I thought I saw something about that somewhere

The Thunderbolt's still up there, just unused.

I completely forgot about this thread! Someone actually found a recording of the Heath siren, and it doesn't actually wind up that fast at all. I wonder if someone would be able to get someone to reactivate the other Instant blast on the tribune tower.

The person who found it was @armoturo on YouTube, Here's a link for the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dBigGEdTDe4

I was the one who managed to find that audio and sent it to Armo. I stumbled upon it when I was researching the siren.
