Is "Test" Actually a option on siren control panels?

Sun Dec 03, 2023 4:18 am

Hey Guys,

I know this may be a random question, but is "Test" an option on siren control panels? Like the ones where you hold it and release and where you can sort of create your own custom signal without having to do something like: (Wail > Alert for 2 seconds > Cancel > Alert for 5 seconds > Cancel) But instead just having an option like the "Test" Button. I don't know if this is just a video game thing because i see it commonly on some video games.

It depends on the panel. On older Federal signal controllers like the AR/AF and PGA, they had a button that would activate the siren as long as the button was depressed. There is a test button on the SC controller but I don't know how it works.

In the world of American Signal sirens, we have a function called "Test". This is generally what button 1 on the CompuLert controller is programmed for. All it does is engages the main siren motor for one second and rotates for like 6 or seven seconds. It is basically a growl test. No matter how long you hold down the button the siren will not run longer just for as long as I described above.
