Chryslers in Portland, OR?

Mon Jan 08, 2024 10:52 pm

I was looking at a CD film looking at what could've happened if Portland, OR was struck by nuclear weapons during the Cold War. At this timestamp, it looks like a possible Portland Chrysler was sounding off? They do look like siren towers of Seattle, but I figure they might have been just a common/generic tower recommended for Chryslers.

The siren at the start of the video is 100% a Chrysler.

Yes, Portland had 7 chryslers, all which were removed in the 1960s after portland discontinued civil defense.

There was only one of those in Minnesota in the center of Minneapolis at South 6th Street & South Marquette Avenue.

Minnesota had a couple. I know for sure that St Paul had one, on the Montgomery Ward building, where alliance field was. That was replaced by a thunderbolt on the building, where it was moved when Alliance was built. Minneapolis had 3, and I believe that Rochester mightve had some

Minneapolis only had one. The Thunderbolt is also now on the parking garage of the south campus of U of M

There are news articles of them having 3. 1 on the north side, one on the south side, and one by Foshay. The thunderbolt on UofMN isn't from Saint Paul, as the Saint Paul ones were single toned, whereas Minneapolis is dual toned.

Oh ok. And the Thunderbolt I’m thinking of is the one that was taken from the Peterson Building in 1999
