This year’s sirencon was amazing, and it was even more amazing when a trailer with a P-50 pulled in.

The motor seized during the attack signal on the P-50

It first started acting oddly, and then suddenly shut off in less than a second. Smoke started pouring out, someone yelled “WHAT THE ****” on the staff frequency, and the crowd was yelling and running to the danger line. The P-50 was permanently destroyed.

The rest of the convention was absolutely amazing and lots of fun. Just kind of a sad ending

From what I heard, it inhaled a chunk of fibreglass ultimately cracking the chopper.

The P-50 had already been decommissioned previously after seizing from ingesting fibreglass. However, fibreglass ingestion doesn't seem to be the issue here. The rotor was already damaged from coming to a sudden stop before, and likely had microfractures that were undetectable. Those fractures opened up during operation forming a crack, which expanded the rotor until it rubbed against and ultimately friction welded the stator. The videos don't show any fibreglass falling from the siren, even after the siren violently shakes upon failing. In addition, the sound goes flat shortly before the siren fails, which suggests the rotor rubbing against the stator.

It does make sense though why they took it down and replaced it with an ASC T-135! I'm hoping whoever has this now actually finds a way to fix it, but a welded shut chopper is usually a death sentence for a siren. I'm not even sure if the motor is fixable at this point.

SirenCon 2024 was way worse than i expected First the P50 explodes, then Gaming With Johnny's 3D Printed siren exploded... I Hope next years Sirencon is better. There was way more mini sirens at Sirencon Than i expected though!.

I read somewhere that apparently the motor is fine, and it's just the chopper and stator that are mutilated!

I actually just realized that after I posted, I just never got the chance to edit it !

Blows my mind the chopper was able to stop at the snap of a finger and not grenade! Shook the trailer and the truck.
