i saw a 2001 up on ebay today and the control box had buttons for a pulsed steady and pulsed wail, as well as the standard wail and steady tones. is it just me, or is there somehing not right about that? since when does a 2001 have solenoids?

Yeah, that silver-finish one.

There is probably a solenoid in the back compartment.

B.T.W., this is the older 2001 series, so don't bet on what you'd find now.

What are you talking about? The 2001 doesnt have any solenoids, never has, never will. Someone probably put the control box for a Modulator to control it. And yes, most electronic siren control can control mechanical sirens and vice versa, if it is acting as the timer.

you cant use an electronic control box on a mech they are 2 entirely different things. the electronic control box has no timer, its just a push button control pad with a soundboard attatched to it. a mech control box has push buttons with timer cams in it.
