If you go there there is a live feed, and you can hear a siren.
A Thunderbolt was heard live on TWC also...i imagine we will have many videos from Mempis later on.

It sounds kind of like some kind of Whelen or low single toned siren.

Here's a clip of what the siren heard may be.

I believe this might be one of the old ACA Allertors that they have there.

Definitely not the same siren in The Advertisement Channel, err, The Weather Channel broadcast. The siren was definitely a dual-toned and I'm sticking with a Thunderbolt 1000T/1003.

Would try to listen, but it's just much talking about the storms reports right now. :|

Unless they show re-run broadcasts, I think TWC is finished with showing clips of the reporter in Memphis with the sirens. The sirens were deactivated a little while ago.

Basically it sounded like this, only in Alert (Steady) and slightly higher pitched (Chopper level 3, perhaps):

Sirens can also be heard on The Weather Channel, as reporters are live in Memphis. Siren heard in the broadcast is a Thunderbolt 1000T.

I've been watching the video for 15 minutes and 30 seconds now and the sirens have not stopped sounding yet. They made the comment on the tv that the sirens are for Shelby County.

*nods* and they finally silenced them. They even mentioned in the broadcast their confusion as to why the sirens were still sounding when the threat was over.

Edit: I'm a little surprised Memphis hasn't updated their siren system. I wonder if this latest tornado that's reportedly struck their industrial park will make them consider replacing it with an updated system?

According to The Weather Channel the Memphis International Airport, Hickory Ridge Mall, Orpheum Theatre, and other locations have sustained moderate to severe damage. A portion of the Hickory Ridge Mall has collapsed, while the roof and walls were damaged at the Orpheum. Damage to the Airport is reported as moderate with roof damage and a 737 having been "moved" by the sheer force of the tornado/winds.

Several photos have been submitted to TWC and broadcasted on the air showing funnel clouds, wall clouds, and what appears to be a tornado. Damage is expected to be even more severe in the industrial park, where initial reports of destruction were reported.

There is a possibility for more destruction as two additional waves of severe weather are quickly heading towards the Memphis, TN/Shelby County areas.

Due to the late hours, better footage will not be available until tomorrow morning.

Edit: More information including amateur tornado footage (including early 2001's in the background) can be found on WREG's website: http://www.wreg.com/

What I heard was on the new station's website and definately sounded exactly like the Allertor from Memphis.

Couldn't get the site to load. According to TWC, the sirens are sounding again in Shelby County.
