Kentucky Statewide Tornado Drill, system recording in stereo

As many of you requested, I made a system recording in the Lyndon neighborhood, where my Uncle Dave lives. There were a bunch of sirens that sounded, but due to a really close Thunderbolt, which we somehow overlooked on the map, the 2T22 I was trying to record was completely drowned out until the wind-down. So, most of the recording is of a bunch of Thunderbolts, the main one being a 1000T, which was .2 miles away. During the wind-down, you can hear several dual tone TBolts, the 2T22, a couple of 2001's, and perhaps a Thunderbolt 1000. Since I couldn't get a good recording of the 2T22 this time, I plan on recording one next week, during our monthly test. This recording was made on my stereo Olympus recorder, and it was converted to MP3 format.

I happen to have a recording myself from WTHS when i was at school at the time this happened. I was only about 75-100 yards from this Thunderbolt, while Josh and his uncle were 2 miles from my location, you can hear me talking to a friend and the gym teacher whom were a bit concerned at the time of what was going on. Also note you can hear the weather radio at the very beginning.

That's a great recording. It's a shame that your recorder cut out shortly after the sirens started. You can still hear all kinds of sirens there though. I could even hear the Bowen Elementary School Thunderbolt in your recording, and maybe even a 2t22. I could also hear the Thunderbolt by the Mall, which I could also hear at my uncle's house. You picked a great location to record. It's a shame you couldn't get out to that Alertronic. You can get it another day though.

BTW, please post that recording you showed me today, that your friend made, from that tornado warning in April of 2005, featuring the Pope Street Thunderbolt!

You can hear the 2T22 winding down at the very end. Listen for the dual tone siren with the slow wind-down. You probably would have heard the 2T22 better if that Thunderbolt by the Mall wasn't set to the exact same pitch, and if that really close Bowen Elementary School Thunderbolt 1000T wasn't going off.

Is this the recording your talking about here? Credit goes to my friend John Micah Grahm. He was outside minutes before the funnel tryed to hit the Kroger on lower Brownsboro Rd.

Yes, that's the one I was talking about! Thanks! Since that tornado was the one that tried to hit the Kroger, that may have been recorded on October 18, 2007, but I could be wrong. Great mix of Thunderbolts and 2001's though!

I think you may be right, because the time's and dates on my recorder are out of date and i called Micah and he said that "Dude that recording was from way back on October 18th. I was standing outside to record the sirens for you.... But i figured you were all ready doing that your self." I also think there are some video's i showed you of tornado sirens going off on the 18th didn't i? from Youtube or elsewhere?

John, I could definitely hear a 2T22 start up in the background on your Waggener Highschool recording you made today. It started right before that Thunderbolt at the Mall did. I think that was the same 2T22 I was trying to record.
