Selma Indiana Siren Test

Fri Mar 07, 2008 6:04 pm

Well this is the last siren test this week here in Delaware County. I decided to go to a place I've not been for a test before. Selma has a type of Model 5 although I'm not to sure on what exactly it is. All I do know is that it works. Sorry for the poor camera quality, I think the snow may have been screwing with it. A winter storm was just moving in as we approached 11:00.

I'll go ahead and post these here since I don't actually have them in the audio/video forum.

Also, here is a story from WTHR in Indianapolis about the Cities warning sirens. Above the picture of the 2001 is a video.

Thats all for now,

Sounds like a low pitched 2001. I wonder if this siren is in the same family as that mystery siren I posted a couple days ago.

Bishop CA has a non active system of those. Preserved by the dry desert climate. I believe those are late 1930's fedelcodes. Or maybe a sterling.

Perhaps this model is the a Federal 3...which could explain the 2001-ish sound. (The Model 3 and 2001 share the same noise making parts.)

That is a Darley siren, because of the curved cowl and round top.

That could also be GCS Model 5, since the top cap is a smaller diameter than the middle louvre.
