2t22 at McConnel AFB, KS - New Video

Fri Apr 04, 2008 4:03 am

The 2t22 can be heard but its a new, different video. At 7:10 is that the controls to a siren? Perhaps the 2t22. You can hear a buildings Fire Alarm system going off.

Yeah, that looks like the siren to me. The two boxes on the pole could be the motor starter and the decoder radio/AR timer. Too bad they didn't zoom out just a little farther so we could have seen if there was a siren on that pole or not.

To who ever uploaded that video, many thanks! It's one of the storms in Kansas that I have really wanted to view more about.

On another note, If i am not mistaken, I do hear a ThunderBolt 1000 off behind the 2t22's sound. :)

EDIT: If i am not mistaken, those would be Wheelock fire alarms. :)

Actually, I can hear two Thunderbolts, and they're both dual tone, so they're either 1000T's, or 1003's. That 2T22 also sounded like it needed some work. It wasn't turning at the full 3450 RPM's.

I believe that the vibratory horns were either Simplex, or Federal Signal Vibratone horns. The ones towards the end sounded like Simplex 2901-9806's. I could be wrong about the horns though. I'm pretty sure that Dan (3T22) can clear that up.

In 7:22, you can see what might possibly be a 2t22 on the building in the upper right.

Here is another video of the same tornado. The Thunderbolt and 2t22 give out one of the most ominous warning signals I've ever listened to. It just sounds so haunting.

I also noticed another Thunderbolt that was slightly lower pitched than the 2T22 in the second video. From the part where I started hearing the second Thunderbolt, to the end of the video, was the most haunting for me.

Thanks for the correction on both parts there. Being up late at night might not be a good thing for me sometimes. :P

The 2t22's tone was overwhelming the ThunderBolts tone, and it sounded like a 1000. I'll give it a listen again to take in more. :)

EDIT: Aha! I do hear a 1000T [or] 1003!

If you pause the video at 1:00, you will see the guy who shot the now famous video. In his video, you will see the 2t22 on a pole.
