Korean Air Raid Sirens

Mon Apr 07, 2008 1:17 am

This might have been posted already, but if not... here it is! I really like the wind up/wind down of this siren..... with the way it cuts off I can only guess that it has a motor brake or a damper of some kind. Nice low pitch to this thing though!!!

Yes, that thing is awsome. I thought it was electronic from the cut-off, but the idea of a damper sounds good. On a side note, I will be in your area very soon Dave. Please contact me when you are not busy.

Recordings I've heard of fire sirens in Portugal sound this same pitch. If South Korea has a 50 Hz. system, this would probably be a six port siren.

The way it cuts off sounds like it could be a supercharged siren.

Here's an old video of Japanese sirens that sound similar. I believe that the lower-pitched ones are supercharged Toshiba sirens.
