Colby, KS Dual Tone Tbolts, Fast Rotation

At about :42 you can hear two Dual Tone thunderbolts wind up, one of which seems to have very fast rotation, idk what it's called, RPM?

Yes, it's called Revolutions Per Minte (RPM), and it sounds like that one Thunderbolt is spinning at 8 RPM.

Yes, it is in fact rotating at 8 RPM. Sounds like it's all at factory settings, besides the rotator setting, of course. Seems like Kansas still has most of their Thunderbolts still, since it seems that in almost every tornado or siren video that includes a siren sounding, 9 times out of 10 it's a Thunderbolt.

The Thunderbolt with the 8 RPM rotation sounds like it could be set to chopper level 4. The other one, which is rotating at 2 RPM's, sounds like it could be set to level 3. The 2 RPM one sounds almost exactly like the one at Kerrick Elementary School here in Louisville. Great find!

I think all Tbolts in Derek's videos are set at 8RPM?

Not all, but I'd say at least half are. Here's one of his videos featuring a 1003 with a broken hi-tone solenoid rotating at 2RPM:

I know this is straying off topic, but I must say that is my favorite video and if I ever managed to get my Thunderbolt 1003 plugged into a power source I'd disconnect the high-tone solenoid so mine would sound exactly like this.

Im not a big fan of that high rpm rotation. I think it totally ruins the "scary" sound of the bolt

I am with you Red04stanggt... I like a nice 4 rpm Tbolt (if I am listening to a Tbolt which doesn't make my top ten favorites list)...one thing I would like to hear is a 1003 set on chopper setting 1 doing hi-lo... I think that would sound sort of cool... and creepy too... or even better... a 4/5 chopper Tbolt set near the top of the speed settings (in other words.. the Glassport Tbolt that Mr. Marcoz Redid/Recorded) doing Hi-lo... now THAT I would listen to and enjoy!!

Haven't you noticed that 85% of all Thunderbolts are set to chopper level 4?
