Means: House with all windows closed or any nearby building with minimal windows, so that gas or harmful airborne contaminant cannot enter.

Sounds: Backwards wail with warble.

Thanks guies for explaining what these tones mean. As far as I know, these tones aren't used on any of the Whelens around here, and all of our Whelens are privately owned chemical release sirens.

If anyone lives in or near McKinney, Texas that is where the sirens are.

Love the tone, as it really gets your attention. Electronic sirens can do some pretty cool tones. I know a lot of people here prefer mechanical but I tend to be a fan of the electronic variety.

Now, if only Whelen made dual tone electronic sirens, then I would be in heaven.

They should call this particular tone the "alien invasion" tone. LOL.

"All clear" and "audible alert" are the same sound. Many of the tones such as "indoor protection" have a tremolo effect. In recent years, many European hi-lo police sirens have added this tremolo. Is this supposed to cut better through ambient noise?

Here's a video of a 2805 in Denmark doing the Indoor Protection tone.
