This siren was talked about a long time ago on the old board, but I can't remember if we figured out who made the thing. I was in Manitou Springs today and took a picture of it...can anyone host the pic?? I can't figure out how to do that :?

It kind of looks like a dual-headed 500t, but I think we decided it was something else...and a dual-headed 500t didn't exist!

You can host it on the TinyPic site, but you need to have the picture in a folder.

Yeah, I remember that siren. I think that it was a custom extension to a 500 or 500T, remembering that the rotor-heads and intakes were hinting of a 500 or 500T.

You're welcome.

It does seem to look similar to a 500 or 500T, but the motor-housing looks to have been cut short; the visible air-intake looks so, as well. It must have the inner guts of the two projected entities, though.

There was some discussion as to if that siren was some kind of rotating version of the 2T22.

I went to Colorado Springs over spring break and I did see the dual-headed 500. I have a picture of it. I'll upload it here in a minute.

Are both rotors dual-tone? I have never been a fan of unidirectional rotating sirens, but as they say, two heads are better than one. Is it still in use?

I don't live anywhere near Colorado, so I don't have a clue as to whether or not they still use it, but if I were to put money on it, I'd bet that it's just for looks nowadays.

Manitou Springs is one of those "cute villages on the side of a mountain" type towns, so I would tend to think that it's just for looks.

We don't have sirens at ALL in CO Springs (which is very strange to me), and I can't seem to find anything online about the Manitou siren. I am tempted to just write the city of Manitou and see what, if anything they'd divulge about it, including a manufacturer so we would know for sure exactly what it is.

But you're right...I am guessing it's just for show. It appears to be in the exact same position as the last time I saw it a year ago.
