My Videos (Whelen 2807, 4004, Federal 3T22)

Mon Jun 09, 2008 4:08 pm

Thought I should go ahead and post the handful of siren videos I've made so far.

This is a Whelen WPS-2807 during the weekly Saturday noon test in my hometown of Vinton, IA. 5-second Alert tone. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SfN1Mc9rJvg

Here's an older (Early 90s) Whelen 4004 during the monthly test (First Wednesday of the month at approx. 8:50AM). This siren located in a rural area northeast of Vinton. It is part of the Duane Arnold Energy Center siren system, Iowa's only nuclear power plant. Four voice announcements, followed by 1 minute of Alert, then 1 minute of Attack/fast wail. I apologize for the hideously annoying wind noise. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bg99MtxFoEA

Here's the Federal 3T22 located in Newhall, IA. Unfortunately, the lower intake is blocked. If you look closely, you can actually see the choppers rotating towards the end of the wind-down (Best seen in high quality mode). 10-second Alert tone, includes the full wind-down. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yOH4CyU-1SE

Here's a recording I made just last night of Vinton's three WPS-2807s sounding for a tornado warning. I actually live about four miles outside of town, so the sirens are not very loud. But, you can still hear them fairly well. Audio only, no video (This was hastily recorded with a tape recorder). One blast of air horn, then a voice announcement, then ~1 minute of Alert (Sirens kept going after the recording stopped). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LM6kqETYhCI

I've made a few other videos too, but I won't post them here unless asked because they're either just photo slideshows, or not really siren-related.

Spring is broken on the lower port solenoid. Which is so easy to fix too
