Anybody ever heard of this siren? I am a CERT member as well as being a volunteer at the OEM here and i am looking for a electronic siren, and a mechanical to back it up, and this looks like a good cheap but effective siren. Anybody know of a fire department that uses these?

I don't know of a fire dept, but I own one. Its a good siren except for hardly a wind down. Plastic rotor.

I've never tried it on a vehicle but no its not just terribly loud. Definately can't outdo some Federal siren like a 28 or VG or something similar. I'll see about getting you a recording of it tonight.

I would look on ebay and get an old federal signal siren. I have 2 model EG sirens. They are 12 volt from the 50's more than likely. Nice sound good wind up and down. Very Very loud! i got mine for 20 bucks shipping and everything. They have many different kinds from a Q siren to the VG. I would do that before getting a small novelty siren. Mine's on my JEEP. Sounds good going under overpasses at 70 mph!!
Some oil and spraypaint and its new again.

The model Vg and Eg both have about a 10 secnd wind down depending on the condition of the siren. I oild my Eg real well and cleaned it up. It coasts down nicely now. For your application, I'm guessing a bumper mount, I would go with the Vg. Its chrome and has a nice tapered motor cover. The Eg is kinda ugly. I think, I've nevr heard one in person, the Vg is louder also.

Old Jubilee sirens sound pretty nice and they have a sealed ball bearing so you don't have to oil them...only problem is the sheet metal stator which can get pretty bent up if you strike it with something.
