Thunderbolt replacing a Thunderbolt

I found something interesting while searching on Windows Live maps.

This is what appears to be two TBolts side by side. It looks like it's at a city yard so maybe they're storing it there? But on the pole? If you rotate around the sirens it doesn't look like they've moved.

That's odd. Perhaps they are storing it there. Back in 2005, EM took down one of our 500ATs and put a 2t22 on the exact same pole. It has the same controls as the 500AT and everything.

It wouldn't surprise me a bit if they were actually replacing one Thunderbolt with another. It happens quite a bit here in Louisville. It's a good way for the city to save money on sirens. Louisville EM has a bunch of Thunderbolt parts, so that if and when one of our Thunderbolts breaks down, they can build another Thunderbolt out of the parts. This is exactly what happened when the Trunnel Thunderbolt was replaced by the Doss Thunderbolt. Our city may even have a fiew whole Thunderbolts sitting around waiting to go up if one breaks down. I've never heard of any other city that did that.

Which begs the question: how did you find that? 8)
Looks like there's a few other siren-y bits and pieces just to the south of those 'bolts. So maybe storage, but that's clearly speculation.

Wichita Falls, Texas also does that. They added Whelens (with a recorded Thunderbolt sound), and they took down all the 2t22s and SD10s and replaced them with Whelens or old Thunderbolts. As far as I know, they still maintain the Thunderbolts.

As long as that "New" ThunderBolt that's going up is an older one, I wouldn't mind.
