This is getting far off topic, but I have to say, that Plano’s 4008s all have either 2020s or 2030s. Along with that, I don’t think they are being replaced anymore, now that there’s a new radio director. By the way, is that the 4008 near Renner? If not then it’s either the Preston Meadow one or the Robinson Middle one.

Since this thread was revived again, I should mention I actually went and recorded this 4008 in Tulsa over the summer. Went for about a minute of alert, per with any Tulsa test. (Video on my channel: Valra Bellkeys)

So then what all did Tulsa replace? I thought they put in a new system of 2900s but I guess they left some older sirens behind?

I think they were just replacing the 3000s they had. I believe all those units still had 864 panels on them.

They replaced the all 3016's and that random 612. All of the 4000 series sirens stayed and retained their controls. Most of the 4004's have ESC-864 panels with a mix of digital and single and dual tone analog controls. At least one of them has a newer style head with a dual tone controller; that one in particular appears to have a much older ESC-864 that has a slower wind up similar to the dual toned 3016 in this video from Lakewood, CO's system: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EDONckvUEBE A couple of them were installed in the early to mid 2000's and have 435 Hz ESC-2020 panels. All of the sirens in the system were two-way capable from what I understand. I think they were going to pull a STL Co. and replace all of their rotating sirens but stopped short of the 4004's and 4008 since they are still officially supported by Whelen.

I guess that 612 will just be there for an eternity lol. As far as I know, that 612 wasn't ever used for their system, it was only installed as a demo from Federal Signal and the 3016 was too. They chose Whelen, the 612 lost it's controller and the 3016 went into service.

Wow, that's the first case i've ever heard of someone choosing Whelen over FS in a demo test. you'd at least think Federal would've taken back the 612 to put it in somewhere else.

The 3016 was louder. It's got an extra 400 watts to play with compared to the 612.

Well, it will stay there until the bloody thing falls over since it is leanings far forward! I wouldn't be surprised if a really bad storm brang it toppling down into the back yard.
