Finally a decent video of a 2001-130. It does Alert. Sounds a little higher pitched...these are really popping up around here...my hometown (possibly) replaced their Model 2 and Banshee with one of these...I was up there and seen a 2001-130 at the school. I hope the old sirens are still in use as they were still up.

Is it just me or does this 2001 seem to have different pitches when it points in different directions? When the projector faces to the left, it seems to get sickeningly higher and when facing right the pitch seems to lower a bit.

I noticed that as well. It certainly doesn't sound healthy.

Derek tested a 2001-130 a while back that sounded like it had the same sort of problems. Here's the video.

Could just be something to do with acoustics. I can't see that other Fed. Sig. 2001-130 as the video has been removed but the wind might have something to do with it.
Either that, or it could be something to do with the slip-ring set. Could have got misaligned and thus slightly starving the rotor motor from juice so it slows slightly. It's a long shot, but it's the best thing I can think of to explain it to blame the 2001 physically.
Me and my crazy theories!

Im gonna say its the wind. In some of my videos where theres some wind the closest thunderbolt gets quiet then real loud as if it were moved up 1,000ft

I was thinking the wind too. Because in the first video, there is wind before the siren winds up. Same thing with Derek's Video.

I've never heard any 2001s do this other than the 2001-130s. I would almost venture to say that it's a design flaw with the 2001-130. I couldn't pinpoint what but I'd point in that direction.

We were wondering when the siren is running, does it take all it's power from the batteries or does it run from say a transformer leaving the battery charge for backup should power fail? The wind was really blowing during the test but we could tell the pitch change as it went around. Curious! The wind was blowing from our backs towards the siren.

Could it be like the Doppler Effect with the wind blowing, changing the sound frequency? Just like a car or a jet going by. But I don't understand why the pitch would go up when it faces away. Strange. Especially with the wind at your back blowing towards it!
