Texas Motor Speedway siren

I'd be curious to know why they have a siren at the racetrack. Do they use that in the event of a major crash? I've worked most of my adult life as a medic at a lot of racetracks in Texas but have never seen one that used a siren. I think that's cool, though.

For accidents at the racetrack, they'd most likely use smaller-scale speakers, at the racetrack itself. They put a civil-defense siren there because the most effective warning can be given out, without any spots at which you can't hear anything.
However, I do wonder as to what kinds of speakers they do have at the tracks.

The siren at the track is just part of the city's warning system. They most likely chose to put it at the track because of the high volume of people that would be there to attend events. With the siren there, these people would be able to be warned affectively and efficiently in the event of a disaster.
