The Siren Board

Just got back from vacation in Morro Bay, and decided to get some photos of Diablo Canyon NPP's new system of 2001SNRBs and Eclipse 8s.

While viewing, reference the [ SLO County Siren Map ] for an optimal virtual hunting experience (wince ).

Highway 1
Random 2001s located along highway 1. These ones are along the stretch from Morro Bay to San Luis Obispo. 2001's are nothing special, so I didn't bother to stop and get out.

Morro Bay
These two sirens are located in the residential area on the state park side of town.

Avila Beach
There's one 2001 in Avila not pictured here, and I didn't really expect much anyway from that little town. But I almost completely missed the one siren that wasn't a 2001 or E8 on this trip. No idea what this siren is or who makes it. It's located at the Avila fire department.





Cayucos
This E8 is at the very top of the system, located on Cayucos Creek Rd. Don't mind my dad looking very fascinated at it.

Great pictures of the eclipse sirens, we haven't seen to many of them in the wild. They look like a square horned T-121.

Awesome pictures of those Eclipses! Pretty rare sirens. From far away, they kind of look like Whelen OA1 sirens.

And that other mystery siren kind of looks like a mini Thunderbeam. Great finds!

Hah, a mini thunderbeam, that would be awesome. I'm seriously wondering if any of our siren wizzes know what that mystery siren is, or if it is really even a siren.

Throughout the trip I was hoping to find some indication of their old siren system, whether a STH-10 they left standing just for the hell of it or a thunderbolt horn in a yard but found nothing. Oh well. Anyone have any pics of the old system?

LOL! The E8s look kind of like 8 mini T-Bolt horns squashed together! J/K. Nice pictures, there. I wonder what the mystery siren is. Maybe a Sparton varient?

Great pictures! Those Eclipse 8 sirens look really nice, especially up-close! Those square horns look better than the horns of a T-121, IMO.

That weird siren looks like it was made by some company that didn't quite last too long in the business! That is one really small motor.

Those sirens are very neat looking, but its irritating all these 2001s are taking over. In Oregon, there are still alot of old sirens left, like Thunderbolts, Allertors, Model 5s, 7s,and 2s, Sentry 10v's. Thats all I know of. Sad though.

I've never seen an Allertor in Oregon, and there is only a handful of Thunderbolts, mostly recycled for tsunami use. Most Oregon sirens are Model 2's and 5's or old Sterling H or upright models, with scattering of STH-10's and XT22's. The only 2001's I've seen were recently installed in Lincoln City.

Crescent City, California has an Allertor for a Tsunami siren. The rotator on it is disabled.
