Remaining ACA Hurricanes

Tue Sep 16, 2008 10:10 pm

I have hardly seen anything about this siren anywhere. I have seen only two videos of a Hurricane running, and a sound recording of a Hurricane Mk. II.

How many of these older CD era sirens are still being utilized for warning sirens? I know many have been taken down now for the newer generation of sirens.

Darien, IL has 2 very-functional Hurricanes. I know there are 2 particular videos of one of them on YouTube. I don't think the second one has ever been recorded.

There are actually quite a few Hurricanes in Illinois, but I think many of them have been replaced. Normal, Illinois seems to come to mind. Not to mention, the Hurricane 130 in Centralia.

Baxter, MN has a Hurricane 130 (square-horned). When I get a car I'll go up there and get a photo of it or even a video, but this won't happen for a while.

I was in Baxter back in May as well as about 2 weeks ago; the Hurricanes (locations described by another member) are gone. They appear to have been replaced last fall....look here:

Does the square horn Hurricane Function? Since that is a rare gem compared to the round horn Hurricane II
