Some more Siren hunting

Sun Nov 30, 2008 5:03 am

I went to Lansing today and took pictures of all the sirens I found using MSN livemaps. I also found one more by accident. it's near some trees making it hidden from the air. I still think that there is 3-4 more I didn't find. I didn't have time to look this time.
There are too many pic's to post so you can look at them HERE I added the other lansing area pics to the same section. You'll have to scroll down a bit to find the start of the new pic's

And I went to Stockbridge and Gregory on the way home (well, sorta on the way) and I stopped in Hell, MI. But no sirens there :(

And yesterday I went up north to go shopping/siren hunting

After starting in Marine city, I went west/northish.
And when getting into Wales Twp. I was surprised to find a Thunderbolt.
Most of the time there's a siren near a park or where alot of houses are. but this one doesn't have alot of houses or a park near by.

Excellent pictures as always. You really have a knack for photography and I can't complement your photos enough.

That first T-Bolt just up there on the pipe way above the pole without pole to support it looks like it could snap at any minute, but I suppose its been there for a while and probably is stable.

Nice find on the 816, btw. Excellent photo of it during sunset. Very well shot!

Deerfield Fire Dept. is where an old Siren Board member worked (and the person where one of my Model 2's ended up, Tim Rienhardt I think was his name). That 1000T has a short, upright blower and is set to a lower pitch, and sounds in alert and attack. Good pics as always!

Love that last picture. Well all the pictures were good. Nice seeing a banshee out there, they seem to be a little rare. Luckily I grew up hearing one:) Also, Lansing has a pretty good system! Shawnee County was talking about moving older sirens around and using them, instead of replacing them all. Hopely they follow Lansings' lead and replace the controls too.
That thing looks brand new!!
Also, I'd love to have recess here during test day

Is that a bell or another siren inside the bell tower in Vassar?
