One of the ones in Perry, GA's system did the same thing, randomly started making all sorts of noise. Apparently a surge fried some part inside the timer and it went nuts, and kept doing that until it finally blew the drivers out, and I believe an amp or two as well.

I rather gathered from the video description it wasn't supposed to be on in the first place!

I'd be sorry to be the people who lived next to it!

The siren sounds like it's trying to do its Whoop Tone or morse code.

Whelen <Wheel'-EN> - (n.): An outdoor warning company that has bad quality in sirens.

Synonyms: junk, blowers, speakers, so-called-sirens
Antonyms: Federal Signal, Sentry, American Signal, my computer speakers.

Sentence: The Whelen blew it's drivers, after breaking down.

I tried, anyway, you get my point. I never like Whelen- never will, although they sound interesting. That was terrible, I didn't like that; it sounded like a pulsed signal use like a horn! I feel bad at the same time, the siren was trying hard to do it's job... Or was it?

They need to either replace it, (please!), or fix it. Thanks for sharing jkvernon, I like siren videos that are funny.
So, apparently, I like Federal Signal...

The batteries are weak in it. That's all. Try a 100 amp load test and you'll find that the batteries have failed. Don't blame the siren, it's the batteries.
If it ain't made in America it shouldn't be here!

Then why did it sound for three days straight and jump from tone to tone?

I couldn't tell ya without looking at it. But it sure sounds like a dc voltage drop to me. It's like when you go try to start your car with a close to dead battery; it just clicks or barely cranks over. That's really what this siren sounds like.

I really don't see how dying batteries can cause that severe of a malfunction.
