Siren is removed and I may be interested in selling it. It is 3 phase and was installed in 1978.

Quick question: anyone know what will happen to the Thunderbeam atop Terminal 2 at CVG? The terminal is being torn down this month.

Here are some miscellaneous photos from all around...

Hmm, does anyone know if the Thunderbeams and STH-10s around the airport still function?

I like how in your first picture of the Kellogg & Apple Hill T-128, you can see the Thunderbolt on top of the Waterworks building.

The ones at the airport do still function, they test on the first Wednesday like everyone else as well. I wouldn't be surprised if they just moved the Thunderbeam to a pole.

I am posting from a school computer, but anyways, why move the siren to a pole instead of decommissioning it? What if they want all sirens to have battery backup?

Because sirens cost a lot of money, and none of the airport sirens have battery backup anyways. It's a completely separate system from the county.

I have to give you credit for stepping out to get pics of the one at Linn & Liberty. :O My uncle works there on Wednesdays. I'll ask him to record it on test day if he isn't on a run.

OK, I have a serious question. Can we please make this thread a sticky? It is easily (and probably is) the largest thread on the forums and it is posted in multiple times daily because a lot of us live in Ohio/in/near Cincinnati and making it a sticky would make the thread much easier to see/find.

I doubt that will happen, because this is mostly the people within the metro area posting here, which isn't even a majority of active members.

I took that photo while stopped at the traffic light in front of the station. I have friends who live in English Woods and am around the Queensgate/Spring Grove Ave. area regularly, so I have gotten used to it.
(In the future, please don't quote entire posts full of pictures. Makes the page harder to read.)

One awfully challenging siren to photograph will be the Thunderbolt adjacent to the former fire station on Spring Grove Avenue, right across from Powell Valves. Still working out how to capture that one. In the meantime...
