Old Pics Of A New Thunderbolt And New Pics Of The Same Siren

Sun Aug 27, 2006 3:18 am

I was digging through some old pics today
and found these again. I might have posted them
on the board before a couple of years ago.
The date on the back of these pics is Feb 1980.
The siren is at Lake Highlands High School in
Dallas. It's still there today though it was moved
a few hundered feet from where it originally was
when these were taken. This siren was only 2 years
old at the time these photos were taken. I wish I
had a better camera at the time. I took these with
one of those cheapie snapshot cameras with the
film cartridge.

My mom went to LHHS, but that was WAAAAAY before that siren was ever put in. I think she was in the class of '69.

Here are 3 pics of it from March of 2005 and one from 2004.
Doesn't look like it's become a "rusted piece of metal" to me.
It was moved because of a new building that was built on the
site. It was just moved to the other side of the parking lot by
the stadium. The new building blocks about 90 degrees of the
siren's coverage. It was moved to a pretty crappy location.
The entire northwest quadrant of it's coverage is blocked
by the new building. When the Dallas sirens finally come down
I would like to try to snag this one, and a couple of others.
This one is a single phase unit.
