Apparently my hometown of Lewisville, TX, has installed 66 ThorGuard units throughout the school district.

It is interesting how they compare the units to sounding like tornado sirens.

Yea we got those here at our school they go off every day. Heres all the tones on them http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I2rUhC9j2jU They are pretty annoying around here due to the fact they cant make up their mind and just alternate between all clear and red alert every 2 minutes. Our math teacher goes insane becuase they are on the math building. I got a recording of them going off during math class the other day il try to get it up on youtube later.

Aren't those just the sample signal recordings off the University of Miami's website?

I can understand it making sense in theory to have those in place and use a 3rd tone for a campus emergency, but I highly doubt that most students would recognize the many short blasts as being a campus warning signal. I don't even think most remember if 3 blasts is warning and 1 long is all-clear or if it's the other way around.

Well our school remembers because ours has the strobes and where just used to it by now. Our school doesent even use the third signal (emergency signal). They probablly do not even know they have it.

I don't know how loud those are in person, but you can buy a three trumpet automotive air horn at Harbor Freight for $19.99 which sounds exactly like that.

I heard the one at work today while working in the ballroom but you can't hear the county sirens inside the clubhouse at all.
