3t22 Soilnoids, and where to get them?

Hey ya'll, Just today, I talked to one of the fire fighters of the LaVale Vol. Fire Co. concerning about ther 3t22 and why it does not do it's Hi-Lo pattern. He said the Silonoids must be going out, and also commented that they aren't going to fix them because they cannot find any replacement Silonoids, let alone, some decently priced ones.

Anyone know a site or such where I can get repair procedures and possibly replacements?

Take a look at solenoids.com . Is there something unique about the solenoid of a 3t22 that you can't find a solenoid with the right amount of stroke and other properties that make a replacement?

I dunno, He just happened to walk in to my work space and I briefly asked him about the problem and all he said is that they couldn't find any silonoids for it.

I'm guessing your first best bet is to call Federal Signal and ask them if they have any idea where to get solenoids. If they don't then I'm not sure unless you look into the manual or the 3T22 closely and see about a part number or something.

If there's no part number any more, then ask Federal the stroke length and power requirements of the solenoid and look at the picture to try to find another one.

KnightFox if I may ask, is that LaVale, MD? If so I've spent some time in Cumberland, I know the siren you are referring to.

Yes, it's the LaVale, MD 3T22

I remember as a child listening to it doiing the Hi-Lo signal, but when I moved to the hill near Sacred Heart Hospital *Across the valley from the 3T22* I noticed it doing just a wail, which is mostly why I got into Sirens
