YEAH. By the end of winter, you can say hello to the ZT22!

I'm going to a junk place tomorrow to grab an old bench-grinder and some wide-diameter PVC pipe, and my dad and I are gonna get to work.

If we get it done according to plan, I'm gonna have the world's first 10/12 port dual-toned home-made siren in my garage!

I'll scan the plans tomorrow... Wish me luck on this project! 8)

Good luck! You might even want to use a wagner motor with it? XT22s used them.

Sounds awesome. How large do you plan on making the siren? And do you plan on attaching cones to each port like on the XT22? And good luck.

The siren will have 10 inch diameter stators, and it'll be horizontal like a Castle Castings.

We're gonna be going around today to see if we can find an old single-phase bench grinder that does around 3450 RPM so it'll sound like an XT22.

If you can only find a bench grinder that runs at 1,800 RPM, just build stators with 20 and 24 ports instead of 10 and 12, and you will get the same result. You will probably want to put some sort of weight in the rotors so they will coast down at a respectable speed. I look forward to seeing your finished project.

It appears that by doing a quick search on Ebay, one can find 120 volt-3450RPM-1/2HP grinders at good prices. Shipping might be an issue @ $25.00 on average for that. You might also look at Harbor Freight or a pawn shop too.

I like how you are going to build a home made ten and twelve port siren. May I wish you luck on it being a sucess.

What are the rotors going to be made out of? PVC?
I'm interested to see how a <10 inch diameter PVC rotor will hold up at 3000 rpm.
