More Toledo, Ohio area sirens

Sun Nov 15, 2009 10:49 pm

I was in Toledo this weekend, and found some more sirens. There were several sirens that I saw, but didn't take a picture, but here are some photos I took.

First, did anybody know there's an STH-10 on the University of Toledo main campus on top of the Student Union building? I meant to take a photo of it, but then forgot where it was, so I don't have a photo of it. Here's a Birds' Eye of it: http://www.bing.com/maps/?v=2&cp=qy90sb ... do%2C%20OH

2001-SRN at corner of Secor Rd. & W. Central Ave. (Sorry it's a bad photo)

2001-130 at corner of S. Holland Sylvania Rd & Merger Dr. in Holland.

2 array DSA at the corner of W. Bancroft St. & Drummond Rd. (This is right across from UT main campus, but not on campus property. Who owns it?)

Modulator 4016 at UT main campus East Campus Parking Garage.

Modulator 60-- at UT main campus at corner of N. Douglas Rd & Oakwood Ave.

I'll try to take a photo of that STH-10 the next time I'm here. :)

Sorry to bring back this old topic, but I was in Toledo yesterday, and was able to get a picture of the STH-10 I missed last time. This is located on top of the Student Union building at the University of Toledo. I'm pretty sure it's still in use, doesn't that look like the reciever antenna to the left of it?

I did

The DSA has got to be part of the university's system. I don't see Lucas county willingly switching to Electronic Sirens anytime soon. I do have a better picture of the 2001 at central and Secore, I caught going into the McDonald's there after returning from my ACT (at UT coincidentally enough) last April. I'll upload it later today. Hope you had fun here, Toledo is a cool place! 8)

I've been here a few other times, and also seen several other STH-10s, 2001s, some P-10/15s, a Screamer, a Sterling M(2001 next to it), and 2 HORs.

I also have some pictures of other Modulators at UT which I did post in a different topic.

Wow, you've had the whole tour  We also Have lots of 2t22s, and two 3t22s. But siren wise, I think Toledo/Lucas County is famous for the rusty STH-10s. I wasn't aware we had two HORs... I know of the one on top of a school by I475, but I don't know of any others off the top of my head. :?

Thanks, for the retro. It's been many years since I was on 475 in Toledo but the HOR on the School I can vividly recall.

Yes, I saw the HOR on the school visible from I-475, and I also saw one on top of an old runned down building at the corner of Hamilton St. & City Park Ave. By the look of the building, it makes me wonder if its decomissioned. It sure does go with the building!

Huh. What do you know! I've never seen that one. I'm considering shooting an email to TPS to inquire about the HOR on the school by 475, but I doubt It will get me nowhere, plus, I don't have the man power to remove it. But it would sure be cool to have a Super Sirex to myself :P The school board would probably refer me to the county who will refer me to the city, who will refer me back to the county, who will refer me back to the school, who will tell me I'm nuts and then refer me to the city and it will go on and on and on...

I can't seem to find my picture of the 2001 at Central and Secore... Maybe I deleted it by mistake.

I noticed that some of the sirens DONT have the battery box below em.
But only having these NICE but limited views, I say some of em are AC powered purely.

Any thoughts?

I don't think I've seen one new siren in the Toledo/Lucas County that has Battery Backup. I'm not positive if the new 2001 that replaced this 2t22 in Sylvania does or doesn't. I'm going to have to check on that.
