The Siren Board

Well here are the newer, and better photos of the ACA Hurricane 130 in Centralia, IL. I live about 30 minutes away so I go up there frequently. Any questions just ask.

These next photos are of the Allertor in Central City, a neighboring city to Centralia. Thanks to Ryan (NinjaSqurrial) for the location.

Could that platform under the Allertor have supported something in the past? Namely, a blower?

It really looked like it, but I was told it was a support for trying to get to the controls.

The horn on that Allertor looks just a little dingy. I'm just nitpicking the cosmetics here, but it's the case nonetheless.

And that Hurricane is a real treat. It looks pretty cool hidden in the metalwork there. Good find.

The national Electric Code calls for the main breaker and or Switch handle to be no more that 6' 6" from the ground (platform) and the meter socket is about eye level so it looks like they had to put the platform there to satisfy the NEC and get it past the inspection

Nice pictures. I knew I saw an Allertor up there. The last Hurricane picture...how high is it mounted off the ground? In comparison to the other poles around it, the horn looks like it's mounted very high.

Well the tower is about some 315 feet tall. I'd say about 70 feet up? Just a guess.

It's situation is a damn shame though. Too bad the owners of the tower have the attitude they do. Do they not understand the significance of this siren to the warning siren community? I really wonder if anything could be done to either save it, or at least talk them into a test or something.
