The Siren Board

Well, seeing a few 2001 AC models, I find those interesting & amusing to see.

I can understand why they would purchase a new siren that has only AC use (I.E. 2001*AC, Eclipse*8/NH*AC, ect. ect.)

Like these sirens here in South Dakota & Minnesota.

Well in this option, a town, community, county that orders its siren(s) with AC power only, will have the ability to add the DC package sometime later if they wish to have the DC option.

AS you can see these are the only ones that I've seen with the AC package only deal.

What do ye think about this option?

They probably didn't see the DC option as useful/efficient.

It would be really cool if FS had a dual tone option for those 2001's I heard the 2001 for the first time in person while I was in Kansas City,I wasn't impressed....

Me too. The only thing is that the port size will have to change, and that'll reduce what already meager sound output the 2001 already has.

Double edged sword. The lower pitch would actually carry further than the current higher pitch, but lower the dB SPL. It seems all Federal cares about is numbers on paper to increase profits, and prefers not to give those who aren't acoustical engineers an education in it.

Despite beating an old, long dead horse: Thunderbolt 1000T/1003 would absolutely kick the FS-2001's arse, with possible exception to the early roundback models.

I do not think there are any substantial differences between the roundback 2001, and the earlier 2001-DCs, aside from the intake box shape.

To Bad, Didn't get Electronic Siren... But they be down this road in 10 years.. looking to replace them... 8)

Not necessarily. Mechanical sirens will still have a place years from now in my opinion.

Perhaps it won't be AC powered but will like most nowadays operate off DC power.
