The Siren Board

For anyone interested, with a caveat:

The one I recently took photos of is not on the map. That may be due to a news report I saw on KTUL that did a story noting that this specific siren was struck by lightning and is not working.

Yep. I'm going to do some more recording today I think..Wednesday tests are today at noon.

I have a Google kmz file you can either load into Google Earth, or paste the full link into the Google Maps search box. This is a work in progress of all the sirens in the Tulsa area. I've only been to three of these, so I'm basing my identification on the Google (and Bing Maps) imagery. The trick is to look for shadows the poles cast, and find a pole with the control boxes.

Didn't hear the test today. But then again there were popcorn storms in and around town in the noon hour. No need to freak out the masses that think the sirens are your only warning system...

Looking at the map you posted, it looks like the city controls sirens in the Berryhill area. Is this true? I always thought Berryhill was their own town and controlled their own sirens. Either way, there's new WPS 2910 on W. 41st right as you climb the big hill heading west to Prattville/Sand Springs. (There's a Sand Springs Vortex about 3/4ths a mile up the road - and about 100' higher in elevation right by TCC's West Campus.)

Nope, no test today. I went to the one down the road from me and waited for a couple of minutes past noon, then heard thunder and figured they cancelled the test.
