Alertonic Sirens

Mon Jul 26, 2010 3:18 pm

Well, I used to live in Fair Lawn, NJ where they had a system of 6 Whelen WPS 2805's. I recently moved to the Budd Lake/Mt. Olive area, where they have Allertonics. There is 1 right down the road from me, I still have not heard it sound. I will get pictures when I get a chance. Also, A few months ago I saw an article in Fair Lawn's paper about the siren system no longer working properly, because failure to maintain and test the system. It's funny because about a year or 2 ago I had written our director and she told me the sirens are silent tested every night, and audibly tested once a month, which was not true at all, considering the fact that one of the sirens was 500 ft from my house...

Where are there Alertronics in the Budd Lake/Mount Olive Township area?? Is it at the Flanders station per chance? I never made it over to Flanders so it wouldn't surprise me if that is where the siren is. Is it an Omni-directional version or the rotating version? If it is the rotating version I am leaving work right now and driving the 4 hours to the Budd Lake area!!!

Yes the Mount Olive Police Station does have a rotating Alertonic. There is also one on Rt. 206 in Flanders right accross from the Shell gas station by Bartley Flanders Road.

Rheems1, better get to a hospital to get that checked on.

Now past the horrible comedy, it seems odd that they would tell you they test and they don't...do they have a testing schedule?

Theres one just south of me into Wood County, I tried to record it a while ago, but I was unaware that it had been replaced by a 2001 hidden down the street. Nice Find, you don't see many of them

That was Fair Lawn, the town I used to live in. I don't know about Flanders. I know I've heard it go off before though.
