Well, you never know as to when you will find a 2T22 or 3T22 on eBay. Good luck on your endeavor, still.

Well, that's why I'm saying that it would be a worth-trying idea to find a municipality with an old-looking siren and ask them for any updates and such.

The 2T22 weighs roughly 500 pounds. Without the horns, its about 400.

Thanks for that page, Peter.

Head, why does your department not use pagers or Motorola Minitors or something?
Mine uses Verizon alpha-numeric pagers which work wonderfully.

Peter, I'd expect the round cones to be better (more efficient) than square.
Is it that the one square horn is much bigger than the 22 round horns?

When we get it up on a utility pole and running before next tornado season, I plan to make a recording of our 2t22A without horns, then with.
Each horn weighs 5 lbs, so the 22 total 110 lbs.

Good luck, Head, on rescuing a 2t22.

You're welcome.

The profile of a square horn would be about (1.27) units bigger than a round horn of the same diameter. Smaller horns do not play such a big difference, as the difference is very little.

That's more like it. The 700 pounds is probably crated shipping weight.
After lugging around Thunderbolts the 2t22 didn't seem that heavy
at all. Maybe because it can be rolled around easily without the horns
on it.

oh ok well then how much would an average one cost me? i would like to buy one soon
Scrounge around for one first. Look around for towns in your area that might have
just replaced some sirens. I found my 2t22 in a city lot. It had been there
for about 6 years. When figuring all the other stuff I got with the 2t22 I
paid about $50 for it.
Dad, what does that CD mean on that big yellow horn? Well son, I believe it stands for Cyclone Device......

thank you! i do certainly hope i get lucky enough to only pay $50 but its not very common in this area to just find them laying around... illl talk to the fire chief at the towns station and see if he can assist me. also what was up with the siren in the train station pic? its too high to take it down? that would be a nice thing to grab on to. i think i could get a truck crain or somethiing."Our 2t22 was destined to be scrapped.
It survives only because on it's 45' utility pole it couldn't be reached." -robert gift
