SAN FRANCISCO - By next year, all San Francisco will be in earshot of the city's outdoor warning system, better known to locals as The Sirens That Go Off Every Tuesday at Noon.

What kind of sirens did San Francisco used to have?

I believe they had STL-10s. They now use ATI. I remember someone saying that they still play the STL-10 sound over them, but that was a while back. I've never been there to hear them myself.

There's also a Thunderbolt on the Ferry Building, but it must've been used while the STL-10s were up. It's right behind one of the arrays of ATI speakers.

I remember seeing an older post on this site showing that Thunderbolt and a Model 5 on a building at Fort Mason.

There is still a Model 5 at Fort Mason, but I don't think it is connected. A nearby fire station has the usual ATI speakers. While most of San Francisco's sirens were STL-10's, there were also a few Model 5's and STH-10's, but all were removed when the ATI's went in.
