Article on Vancouver's Last Air Raid Siren

Just thought you guys would enjoy reading this, I sure did! Its about the last air raid siren in Vancouver thats located in Victoria Park.

That's interesting! I've never heard of a siren being reinstalled just to have it there, and show it's a piece of history!

Seattle also keeps a lone, non-functioning Chrysler siren on its original tower as a sort of museum piece. The first time I visited Vancouver, these things were everywhere.

I wonder if they're going to restore it to working condition or just repaint it? Either way, It'll be cool to see a Mobil Directo used as a monument!

They did the same thing in Toronto a few years back with one of their last remaining sirens. They took it down from the pole but I believe they didn't put it back up. I think it is lower to the ground on a concrete thing now. Does anyone know or have pics of it?

Seattle still has two of the Chrysler Sirens standing. As Daniel said one of the sirens on Phinney Ridge in north central Seattle has been re painted in 2006, but does not work.
