Re: A Sunday Road Trip

Nice photos. Thank you. What is that YELLOW BOX on the traffic signal? Not the correct place for a pedestrian signal. http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd151/EL1998P71/Siren%20Pics/P1450549.jpg those are pretty common in michigan. That is a sign that can light up that says 'left' as seen here (the...

As stated in the Plymouth, MI thread, almost all of the 'older' (and in some cases, IMO, better sirens) are being replaced by 2001-130s. All of the Plymouth T-Bolts have been replaced, as well as the model 5 downtown (which was replaced 5-10 years ago by a 2001, and they recently 'updated' its contr...

Actually, they did fix the 1000. I didnt think they would. But at the beggining of the summer they fixed it and it has been working. You can tell because the chopper housing/rotator housing is the CD Yellow, but the rest of the siren, as are the other Plymouth T-Bolts, still "CAT Yellow/Orange&...

Dual-Toned Sirens

Ok, before I ask this I would like to make this point clear: Dual Toned sirens, especially the Thunderbolt 1000T, are by far my favorite, so I am in no way implying that I think dual -toned sires are pointless. I believe that the federal government originally, in the early years of the cold war, man...

ATI Question

Correct me if I am wrong but from what I understand ATI sirens do not have a wind up or wind down.
If that is true, than how does an ATI do an attack signal? Or is there no attack signal at all? (which I think is highly unlikely)

500AT: This would make complete sense. I know in the past, several of the downtown businesses complained that the Model 5 was too loud, and that since all the firefighters have pagers, there is no need to run it for fire alerting. However, they wanted a downtown siren for storm warnings. Maybe the ...

so not to sound totally stupid, but I want to make sure I have this right. Federal made the square-horned Thudnerbolt (duh!), but experimented with a round-horned Thunderbolt. ACA made the rounded Hurricane, but experimented with a square-horned type. That to me is pretty ironic considering the simi...
