Re: Post your Mystery Sirens here.

Something tells me that Screamer in Hartford, Iowa is probably shot because somehow between 8/2013 (streetview date) and now it lost it's top, thus leading snow and rain water to get into the siren and probably destroy it,. You're probably right...in fact, it looked like its power source may have b...

Re: Uniquely Iowa

I stand corrected...a Penetrator! Thanks for the clarification...I too was intrigued by the unique manner in which that siren was mounted. Also thought it was interesting to see a Thunderbolt only 20-25 feet above ground. Aren't they normally higher up?

Uniquely Iowa

Took a series of photos today while out running around with my son on another of our "Siren Hunts." Saw what I consider to be extremely unique set-ups in some of the small towns north and east of Des Moines! Feedback, as always, is welcomed

Thanks, guys!

The Fedelcode was easily recognizable because of the service door on the housing! Was a great thrill to finally see one in person!

Re: Took my 5-year old on a "Siren Tour" of Central Iowa yesterday...

Thanks for clarifying, Brendan! For future reference, what exactly gives it away as a Model 5t, as opposed to simply a Model 5? Also, this may have been covered to death elsewhere, but trying to distinguish between Models 5 and 7 are difficult to the naked eye, are they not? Thanks for the great inf...

Some really interesting models represented, particularly in smaller towns. A couple here that I'm unsure of - one of which is perched atop the City Hall at Polk City, Iowa.

Interesting combination of Federal models in small-town Iowa

Greetings, board! I'm a long-time severe weather enthusiast with a 5 year-old son that has a keen interest in sirens. We literally need to stop the car and allow him to inspect every time he spots one...and he's quite adept. Headed back to Des Moines earlier this evening, we drove through the small ...
