So it must be wired wrong, eh? It was still loud, but it didnt seem like 125 db, more like a model 5. Is it normal for an Allertor to have a T-Bolt blower sound when its facing away, or is that because of the backwards chopper rotation? A 3-phase-engine changes the direction if you swap 2 powerline...

Info came from a staff member from the Ministry of Defence of the Federal Republic of Germany office in Berlin (via Email). 163 to 156 dB is a big difference, maybe that's how they configure the siren near buildings. I also doubt of their exactly knowledge^^ The HLS have been mounted during cold wa...

Pintsch Bamag HLS pneumatic high-performance data (level with head): Manufacturer: Pintsch Bamag 160dB @ the horn 156dB @1 meter. 131dB @30 meters. Where did you find that? That would be more SPL at 30m and less SPL at 1m than the small H?rmann-head - how's that possible? Meassurement at the horn i...

The head of the HLS273 and similar models is 0,5m high, the other heads are 3-4 m high and have very big horns. The size of a horn is very important for the SPL. The HLS is not longer made because: 1.) The cold are is over since 30 years. 2.) The HLS is the most complex siren ever built which makes ...

European sirens tend to not follow the classic American formula of Build it BIGGER. They all seem to be between 5-15 horsepower, if that, can't think of a single directional unit off the top of my head, either. First, there are no european sirens. Every country in Europe has it's own sirens, only a...

I was disappointed by the video of a unit looking similar to the HLS which indicated a mere 100 dB at a mere 20 meters from such a unit. Either the sound level meter had a bad battery, the meter was defective, or the siren's air supply was low. I know the Video you are talking about. It was a real ...

Contrary to popular opinion, the effective range of the motor siren is "only" a few hundred metres and not several kilometres. I'm sure if some of these sound engineers were presented with a Cyclone 125 or a 40V2T, the first words out of their mouths would be, "Guter Gott, was IST di...

The HLS is not compareable to any other siren because it's a completely different system. Every other siren uses a fan or a multistage turbine (Chrysler) to produce the airflow when it's needed. The HLS has a compressor and a very big storage tank. What do you think why the HLS stores 6000 liters of...

BIGMIKE SOCAL wrote: What about the dB rating for the German Pintsch Bamag HLS warning siren?
Thanks,
Big Mike
It's rated at 163-165dB/1m, at 30m the SPL is around 135db - omnidirectional

acoustics101: You compare 4 Chrysler to 1 Pintsch-Bamag, a little bit unfair^^
