Re: Iowa Siren Help

I’m not from Iowa (I’m from Wisconsin), but I know that in Woodward, IA, they have a 2/3T22. It’s notably in a video of the Woodward EF2 tornado.

Re: 1993 ACA Sound Testing Photos

It’s crazy to think that only 75 miles away from me was those sirens. It’s nice to see another Quadren siren. The OM siren looks small in one of the pictures...

I am thinking the same thing. I did see it about 3 months before it got replaced.
I was only little when it was replaced. I didn’t see the chopper, but I knew the color was civil defense yellow.

McFarland, WI Allertor Question. Was it 8/12 port?

So, I knew about McFarland’s old Allertor since I was young. But, I never got to see it before it was replaced by the 508-128. The only memory of it I had was on the beltline near Monona on a siren test day and heard a sudden siren like a P-50, coming down from McFarland. Is it true it was 8/12? The...

Starting a New Siren Project!

Hey everyone, I'm back. Today I released a video about a wooden siren I'm making, and all the details are in the video. Here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_Y1g40x6ow

GCS Model 5 - Noon Whistle | Union Grove, WI

I recorded this siren several months ago, but unfortunately I just missed the windup. I hope to improve my siren recording skills this Wednesday when I record a 2001-SRN.
Enjoy the sweet sound of an 8 port!

Re: Sentry 10V Rural Ambience (2.5 Miles) in Berkeley Springs, WV

That eerie sound... that’s why I love 8 port sirens that have the pitch between 475 Hz - 500 Hz. If I were to set off any siren, I would choose that 10V.

Re: Lowest mounted Siren in US

The blower is likely behind the tank, as without it you can barely hear it from 100 feet.

Re: What is your favorite siren port ratio/interval?

My favorites are 8/10, 10/12, 8/12, and 8 port. I do hold a grudge against 9/12 sirens, because they sound like something out of a rock song or whatever.
