Not so pleasent Mercer County, Ky siren update

Sun Aug 28, 2011 1:47 am

Due to recently being struck by lightning, the 3t22A on top of the Harrodsburg post office on Main St. has been taken down and will be replaced. It's fait is uncertain however. Hopefully it will be repaired and placed in a part of the county that does not have siren coverage. Or, just like Louisville has extra Thunderbolt heads to replace others, maybe Harrodsburg has another 3t22 to replace it (not likely though). However if not replaced by another 3t22, it might be a Sentry that replaces it because the stand that the old siren stood on is still there.
If scrapped, then RIP post office 3t22A 1960s-2011.

At least if it does get replaced, it'll be replaced by a good siren instead of the usual "replace an old broken Federal siren with a 2001" routine.

Yeah, I would hate to see that happen. I personally don't mind 2001s as long they're installed in a location with no siren coverage. Plus, it would make since to replace a dual toned siren with another dual tone, like a Sentry 15V1T or a 20V2T.
