Nice find! How many sirens are at the airport anyway?

I honestly have no idea. This is the only one I've seen, and with the white STH-10 mentioned, two should be enough to cover the airport.

Paper

Hey Guys read the Cincinnati Enquirer or Cincinnati.com article on the County budget. The director of Homeland security said that in 5 years the sirens will be useless if he does not get a bigger increase than the 23,000 dollars he is to get next year. The existing budget is $227,000.00 per year. Codespear (reverse 911) cost $225,00.00 per year for the service weather used or not. There is 6 or 7 in the Homeland and or EMA department and their budget is $227,000 Wow. The siren system will add at least $100,000.00 per year to their budget for maintenance, but I do not see that happening so the siren system will be given to each community as it is now for maintenance and all 49 communities will have to cough up about 300 per siren per year for maintenance. and another $2,000.00 per siren or so to remove the old sirens that are being replaced as they took a bid without removals. For the life of me I cannot figure out County Government and or politics????

Just a couple of updates, which you guys probably already know about:

-The fire station in Eastgate (the one right by Eastgate Mall) has had its yellow Model 5 replaced with a yellow Penetrator.

-Wilson Elementary has either replaced or repainted its primer-gray Thunderbolt, and has moved it from the roof of the school to a building farther back. It's now yellow instead of gray.

There have been many older refurbished sirens going up in Clermont County.

September 7th Siren test

Mon Sep 05, 2011 11:32 pm

I am off of work for Wednesday's siren test and I will be recording the Thunderbolt on top of the Salvation Army Building. I remember from a previous post that it does still work even though the blower was covered over with shingles. Does anybody know if it is a 1000 or 1000T. I will be recording it from the parking lot where Fitworks is located.

4J25:

1. The Allertor was replaced in 2009. Interesting story though, the first T-128 that replaced it was knocked down by the pastor of Temple Baptist Church with a bobcat, because he didn't like it being so close to the church. The Allertor was farther back. So Springdale bought another T-128, and the church had to pay $25,000 for damaging the first one. The 2nd T-128 was installed in the same location as the first one, and I guess the pastor is putting up with it.

2. Have you even seen the EOWS 612 in person? I know it malfunctioned when Jpressman8 tried filming it, but he says that the last time he saw it, it was pointed in a different direction, and that broken guy wire was fixed. And yes it does have an ASC RTU box on it.
