Low mounted Sirens in US

Sorry for getting off topic but what is this speaker on this pole used for?: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source= ... 6&t=h&z=18 There 2 of them,one on each side of the Fire Station.

There is a part of Louisville that is called J-Town, and they have parades and stuff all the time, and they have those mounted just so people can hear whats going on...kinda like a PA. Thats what that could be.

How about this little dandy at the Haydentown Fire Department in Fayette County, Pa.... for reference I had my friend Big Rick from Pittsburgh (3T22HiLo) stand in front of the firehouse. I know what you are going to say "gee that is really low on the back of the firehouse with the hill"... nopers the siren sits on front side of the building next to Haydenttown Hill Road... so people have to drive right beside that thing on the road the firehouse is on. I don't suspect that Haydentown is very busy though so it might not be so bad....

That street shown in Arthur, NE is what I have always pictured the streets in hell to look like...*shudder* Looking at that street makes me feel more depressed than words can even cover

Well, least they don't really have to worry about the mounting / movement of those two sirens... if indeed that is a steel pipe. 8)

I assume the XT22 is used for weather warnings and the Champion is used for fire calls?

I don't know, but the Xt22 is a 3t22 so I don't know.
