Well I'll be!. I never thought in a million years they would lower the pitch. Props to whoever made the request.

Just a couple weeks ago, we had a huge discussion about how to improve the 2001, and now, here it is!

An Eclipse-12? that would almost be like having the STH-10 come back with a new look and a higher pitch, right?

As of now, the Equinox siren will be an addition to the Federal Signal outdoor warning family.
That's similar to when they began producing the 2001 in 1988, the Thunderbolt was discontinued 2 years after that. Let's see how much longer either the 2001 or Equinox stay in production.
Resident of a county with big a mixture of sirens, but in the process of being replaced. :(

This is amazing! We should have more discussions like that. Who wants a lower pitch Eclipse 8?

The Limerick NGS (Montgomery County, PA) recently replaced their Thunderbolts with T-128's. During early tests of the old and new siren systems (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j2mldpU25S8) many listeners in the area reported that the new sirens sounded the same as the old ones.

I wonder if Federal Signal realized that they were losing business to other vendors who had a lower pitched product that sounded similar to what was already in place. Perhaps that partially motivated the Eclipse option.
