Yep, that's a banshee. Basically the same thing as an Allertor/Penetrator without the directional housing.

And an OLD one at that. Looks like one from the first run of them, with the steel(?) louvers and exposed motor. These were also the ones that had the option of being fitted with a coding damper. Could you tell if it was a single or dual tone model?

Sweet! I have no clue if it is dual tone or not.

EDIT: If the city were to sell it, how much would you say it would be?

If you look closely, you can see the ports on the stator and whether or not there are two of them.

I would venture a guess that this Banshee is from the early 70s. In Blooming Grove township (basically in Madison, WI) there's a Banshee from 1970 with the exposed motor, as mr_thunderbolt1003 noted. Tried to get a recording of it last month but it failed.

The pictures are too fuzzy to tell, but it looks like it has the big 254 frame Doerr motor.

It stinks that there are signs that say "No trespassing". I guess I will have to pet it from 20 feet away :( lol

EDIT: Holy crap, the single tone Banshee is 8 ports, just like the 3v8.
Screaming hat?
I own some electric motors. Not any sirens yet.

How about the allertor, screaming toilet. Also, the Model 2/3/5/7 kinda look like hats as well, like those Chinese ones...
