It's not great other than looking at a T-bolt from far away.
You can barely hear the sirens over the train horn and the digging machine that was behind where I was at about 20-30 yards away.
I don't think it's worth putting it up. Unless you want me to?
Well in that case, I guess you shouldn't put it up. It's always hard to get a decent recording in certain areas of Detroit. From the Greenfield and Joy Road area, I never can get a perfect recording. However when I recorded the Thunderbolts from the 8 Mile and Telegraph area, everything was cool.

Thanks for the video - glad to hear that the sirens are semi-working. Hope they get all the bugs out, soon. Anybody have any luck tracking down the location of the dual-tone Thunderbolt, yet??
Viva la Thunderbolt!

Nope. But it sounded like it was somewhere south of where I was. We will find that 1000T eventually :)

The only thunderbolt south of Joy/Greenfield is Melvindales and the one I recorded at engine 47 which is a 1000.
Melvindales is very high up in the air, so you may hear it.
Otherwise the next closest one is Redford's at Elmira and Telegraph.
There are not too many possible ones other than the Freeway and Warren ave t-bolt.

This is really bothering me. If only we had known of a 1000T before, it would've been easier to locate. Oh well. We've got some searching to do.

What searching? I gave you the ONLY possible locations. Anything else is too far away. There are no Hidden sirens in Detroit. Dearborn doesn't have any t-bolts, nor does Lincoln park.
Everything else around you is a Thunderbeam or a 2001.

Map below is all of Detroit's.

When I say this, I'm not trying to be mean, but here it goes. You tend to have this very irritating arrogance that just sours things. Presumably, you have a lot of knowledge of the sirens in the Metro-Detroit area; however, you don't know everything. You can't necessarily say there are no hidden sirens in Detroit (not saying that there are) because if they are hidden we wouldn't know about them. There are a lot of changes going on, and for all we know Detroit could have moved sirens, added sirens, or modified sirens. And just a side note, everything else, aside from the 1000T are 1000s, Thunderbeams, and 2001s. Also, the 1000T that I heard is a bit higher than the Melvindale 1000T and it followed the alert and attack pattern last month. Now unless Melvindale raised the chopper level of their Thunderbolt and it's testing patter, it can't be Melvindale's. Also, that is a little far for me to hear as strongly as I did from my location.

In this case, I do know everything about detroit's siren locations.
There are no hidden sirens, I can't stress this enough.
The siren list I have is the same list that WSS was given by the city.
The only siren that was ever moved was Engine 47.(from north of Scheafer to south of Scheafer)
And the only one that was replaced was the one in New Center to a 2001.
All the thunderbolts have been in their places since the 1950's.
In your area, I have been to every single School, Church, and other large buildings that could support a roof mounted siren (for fallout shelters) and never found any siren not on the list.
I believe that you are hearing something that is not in the place where you think it is. With all the neighborhood buildings and tree's something you think is coming from the south could be from the west.
You need to go to a different location and record somewhere away from all those houses. Like a school playground where you'll be able to hear it more clearly. Recording from your porch is not ideal.
And why does your location say Oakland county if you are in Detroit?

Obviously if my location says Oakland County, I live in Oakland County. Does that mean that I can't move around and go to different locations? To answer your question, I was at my grandparents' house (hence the mentioning of my grandfather) in Detroit. My dad is in Detroit. I live in Oakland County with my Mom. Does that answer ypur question?

And on the topic of Detroit's sirens. You know everything pertaining to the old system and the lists that you were provided with. But I doubt that you know everything about the system as a whole as of now. When I orignally stated that Detroit started testing again, you were quick to shoot that down only to find out that they actually did. Me knowing Detroit, they probably don't even know all of it's sirens. They have old lists. Maybe the direction that I thought isn't correct; I wasn't very sure. I just know that that dual toned Thunderbolt is somewhere in Detroit. If not, I would have heard it before Detroit decided to turn it's sirens back on.
