What type of sirens does Romulus have?

There's a 2001 at the FD on Eureka Rd just east of the airport, other that I don't know.

probably just 2001's, it seems a good deal of michigan has had there sirens replaced. in a few days I'll be heading to the airport there, I'll notify you if theres anything else. I will note that nearby detroit has a few thunderbolts, although I'm almost sure the majority are out of service.

Most are back in service as of October 2011. Only those that don't have a power source aren't working.

Romulus has a few model 5/7's on Fire stations. But all of those have new 2001's right next to the buildings now.
Proud Owner of too many sirens, lightbars, civil defense items, and diecast cars

So it's safe to say that all of the Model 5s are decomissioned and the 2001s are the only sirens that are used?

Yes. Those firehouse sirens used to be part of the old Romulus Township Fire Dept., The Federal Model 5s, and Model 2s were used to notify the firefighters of fire and rescue calls starting in the 1940s. Likewise, after the Palm Sunday Tornado Outbreak of 1965, they were also used for Tornado Warnings. When the city of Romulus was created in 1970, the sirens were still used until late 1970s, when the fire department purchased Plectron alerting radios for their personnel. The only time they were used was for structure fires during the daylight hours, or for severe weather.

Sincerely yours,

Ron W.
