I'm glad someone posted a picture of the thunderbolt on city hall in downtown bham. I've tried for years and never gotten a decent pic of it.
It's old, installed in 1953, and as of last may was operational. I was downtown during a tornado warning and heard the glorious roar!

I'm going to have to agree with you....trying to get a picture of that thing was very challenging.

I don't know if it's still there. I can't imagine that they have taken the trouble to remove it when there are still old FW Thunderbolts (sitting right next to main roads) that haven't been removed yet.

I love how this picture really shows off the sheer size of the Thunderbolt, the man talking on the phone in the background paying no attention to the monster just a few feet away adds coolness as well.

From your photo it doesn't look like the horn has moved since I took that pic in 2005. I know the chopper worked when I was up there that day when I took the pics. I didn't try the rotator though. I buzzed the chopper when we had the RCM open to see if it was a 1000T or 1000. The EM guy didn't think much of that so I didn't try the rotator. I didn't even bring the chopper up to 1/5 speed and he snapped at me "Hey don't do that." I just flipped the switch for a split second. The thing is 6 or 7 stories up. There's no way anyone would have heard it down on the street.

This is the now decommissioned Thunderbolt 1000 on top of the Cleveland County courthouse in Norman, OK.

I know this topic is ancient.. but is the controller for that :TBolt: up there with it? Also, was it hooked to power last you saw it? I'm curious.
Also, if it is not, do you by any chance at all know were the controller is?
I own: One complete SiraTone, another SiraTone control module, a 1600W MC, 2 old ATI controllers, 2 round ATI horns with drivers, a ATI-DSA 4 thing, a Federal Signal FC, AR timer and Siratrol, and a small CD&F.
